International Civil Protection Day is celebrated annually on 1 March, a date established worldwide by the International Civil Protection Organisation in 1972 and at the national level by Order of the Minister of Internal Affairs in 2008. It aims to raise awareness of the importance of civil protection in safeguarding human life, property, cultural heritage and the environment in the event of serious accidents and disasters and pay tribute to all civil protection agents.
