Discover Your Future: Lagos Launches Summer Vocational Programme for Local Youth
As part of our ongoing commitment to sharing news and opportunities within the Algarve community, Tomorrow magazine is excited to highlight a fantastic new initiative for young people in Lagos.
The Municipality of Lagos has announced the launch of “Descobre o Teu Futuro” (Discover Your Future), an inspiring vocational programme running this summer from 29 June to 18 July 2026. Designed to transform the long summer holiday into a valuable opportunity for learning and personal growth, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between young residents and the local business, social, and institutional sectors.
Who can apply?
The programme is open to young people living in the Lagos municipality aged 15 to 21 who have completed at least their 9th year of schooling.
What does it involve?
Rather than a standard summer job, “Descobre o Teu Futuro” offers practical, hands-on experience in a wide variety of professional environments. Through partnerships with local companies, institutions, and municipal services, participants will get direct exposure to fields such as:
- Science and Environment
- Tourism, Culture, and Heritage
- Sports and Social Support
- Technical Maintenance
- Communications and the Local Economy
The core objectives are to help young people discover their aptitudes and interests, develop essential social and professional skills, and foster a sense of autonomy, responsibility, and active citizenship. Ultimately, the programme hopes to empower the next generation to make more informed choices about their future academic and career paths.

There are 34 placements available across various welcoming organisations. The programme will be divided into three one-week shifts:
- 1st Shift: 29 June to 4 July
