The Portimão City Council has launched the construction of the new Quinta do Amparo Sports Complex and the full re-qualification of its surroundings. This urban intervention represents a municipal investment of €5,652,511.56, fully financed by the Municipality’s own resources. Located in an area of the city that has seen a significant increase in residents in recent years, this intervention was designed to meet the population’s new needs, strengthening the supply of public equipment and enhancing the urban space.
More than just replacing an aged sports facility inadequate for current demands, this intervention will give new life to a central area of Quinta do Amparo through the construction of a new sports pavilion, the integral requalification of the garden, and the enhancement of its entire surroundings. The result will be a space designed for sports, leisure, and community life.
The new sports pavilion will be modern and multifunctional, prepared to host various sports. It will integrate a playing court, support rooms for sports practice, changing rooms, technical offices, and a grandstand with a capacity for 500 seats, creating better conditions for sports and the holding of competitions and other activities.
The intervention also includes the creation of a parking lot with 55 spaces and the full re-qualification of the garden, which will now feature new accessible paths, ramps, stairs, and renovated green areas, providing better conditions for movement, stay, and use by the entire community. The contract was awarded to the company Ferreira – Construção, S.A., has an execution period of 540 days, and is currently in the site installation and work preparation phase.

At the end of the intervention, Quinta do Amparo will have one of the city’s most complete public spaces for sports, leisure, and socializing, bringing together in a single location a modern sports pavilion, a fully requalified garden, improved accessibility, parking, and new stay areas, contributing to the enhancement of this entire residential area.
