Get Ready for Março Jovem 2026: Portimão’s Ultimate Celebration of Youth!
The 28th edition of Março Jovem is just around the corner, promising its most diverse programme yet for the youth of Portimão. Kicking off on Saturday, 28th February, this month-long festival is packed to the brim with sports, culture, art, and music. Organised by the Municipal Council alongside local associations and schools, it is the ultimate celebration of our vibrant community.

Gaming and Having Your Say: The festivities begin with the XL Games at the Portimão Arena, transforming the venue into a gamer’s paradise from 27th February to 1st March. March is also about empowering our young residents to shape the future of Portimão. Between the 1st and 22nd of March, young people aged 12 to 30 can vote for their favourite community projects in the Youth Participatory Budget (OPJ). The four winning proposals will each receive €25,000 to bring their ideas to life, representing a total investment of €100,000 from the local council.

Music, Arts, and Culture Saturday nights throughout the month are reserved for the highly anticipated “Battle of the Bands”, which culminates in a grand finale at the spectacular Fusion Fest. Taking place on the 28th and 29th of March, Fusion Fest will feature BMX Freestyle and skate competitions, alongside brilliant live performances from renowned acts like Mundo Segundo & Sam The Kid and the Linkin Park tribute band, Hybrid Theory.

For those who love the arts, a massive, interactive Cotton Yarn Labyrinth will be constructed by the Clube Naval, offering a series of creative weaving workshops throughout the month. Additionally, the community can look forward to the ExpoArte contemporary art and photography fair, running from the 11th to the 13th of March.
Food and Community Spirit. Foodies and culture enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Supper Club on the 28th of March, where young residents from various cultural backgrounds will cook and share traditional dishes from their home countries. The popular Miss and Mister Interescolas pageant also returns to the Portimão Arena on the 21st of March for an unforgettable “night of rhythms”.
Free Sports and the Grand Finale. To keep everyone active, free sports sessions—including swimming, tennis, pilates, and yoga—are available across municipal facilities for anyone aged 14 to 35. The action-packed month will finally draw to a close on the 31st of March with a Sunset closing party at Lugar do Rio. This spectacular finale will announce the OPJ winners whilst celebrating the one-year anniversary of this fantastic riverside youth centre.
