Leading in Dance and Connection

Lagos choreographer Daniel Matos and the Lagos Association of Lagos saw votes of praise approved yesterday in a city council meeting, synonymous with the municipality’s public recognition for the work developed in favour of artistic creation and dissemination in the field of dance. In both cases, technical and artistic quality, the coherence and consistency of their journey, as well as dedication and commitment, were highlighted as decisive factors for the excellence of the creations and presentations performed on stages of great national and international prestige.

The municipal initiative directed at choreographer, performer, and visual artist Daniel Matos originated from the ranking—first prize in the DanceMovie category—awarded to the creation Almost Uninhabited within the Roma Danza Prize (Italy), one of the most relevant international contemporary dance festivals.

For its part, the Lagos Dance Association (ADL) and its respective Ljiljana Urosevic da Silva Dance School were praised for the excellent results obtained in the All Dance Europe 2026 competition, which took place in Greece, where it achieved 18 awards and the highest scores in the three main categories, as well as historic individual results, confirming the quality of the pedagogical, technical, and artistic work to which we are already accustomed.
