Praia da Falésia and Praia de Benagil recognised among Europe’s best beaches.
The Algarve has secured major international recognition in Condé Nast Traveller’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards, with two of its most iconic coastal spots—Praia da Falésia and Praia de Benagil—named among the Best Beaches in Europe.
Determined by more than 296,000 responses from UK readers rating their favorite worldwide destinations, the long-standing awards represent one of the travel industry’s highest honors.
André Gomes, President of the Algarve Tourism Bureau, welcomed the distinction, emphasizing that having two local beaches celebrated on a global stage highlights the extraordinary natural diversity of the Algarve coastline—from Falésia’s dramatic red cliffs and golden sands to Benagil’s world-famous sea cave. He also praised regional efforts to balance high-quality visitor experiences with ongoing environmental conservation.
Renowned for offering over 300 days of sunshine a year, rich local gastronomy, and year-round outdoor experiences ranging from surfing and cycling to birdwatching, the Algarve continues to solidify its reputation as a top global destination across its 16 diverse municipalities.
