Centenarians Sought in Portimão for Municipal Tribute

The Municipality of Portimão is once again preparing to honor its centenarian residents, in an initiative that recognizes and celebrates the life journeys of men and women who have lived through a century of history, memories, and change, contributing in a unique way to the municipality’s identity and collective memory.

As identifying centenarians is a key step in implementing the initiative, the Municipality is calling on the public to help identify individuals aged 100 or over by the end of May.

As part of the tribute, biographical video content will be produced, bringing together images and personal testimonies about the lives of those honored, with a particular focus on their connection to Portimão. The aim is to preserve and share life stories that form part of the municipality’s collective memory.

Anyone who knows a centenarian is invited to contact municipal services via email at saude.cidadania@cm-portimao.pt or by phone at +351 969 757 882, providing the individual’s full name, date of birth, a family contact, place of residence, and a general indication of their health status.

In addition, 10 photographs illustrating the person’s life journey—preferably with a connection to Portimão—should be submitted, along with the contact details of two individuals willing to share testimonies about their life.

The information collected will help build a fuller picture of each honoree’s life, support the production of audiovisual content, and ensure that the tribute is organized with the care and dignity these lives deserve.

Identification process runs until the end of May
