Summer Wave -Lagos 2026

The “Lagos on the 2026 Summer Wave” campaign continues to travel across the municipality’s beaches, promoting awareness and environmental education actions within the framework of the Blue Flag Program.

Until the end of August, the initiative, which involves various partner entities, will visit Batata Beach, Meia Praia, and Luz Beach, featuring themed workshops, an information kiosk, and activities for children and youth. Under the motto “We share a past.

Let’s preserve the future,” the campaign marks the 40th anniversary of the Blue Flag Program, inviting residents and visitors to adopt more sustainable behaviors and contribute to environmental protection.

This initiative reflects the growing feeling in the Algarve where the region continually seeks modern spaces for collective joy and connection during the peak of the summer festival season.

Much like the open-air gatherings along the southwestern coast, these activities on the beach bring together families and children in a shared ritual. By inviting residents and visitors to actively participate in environmental education, the campaign encourages them to become participants instead of spectators.

These moments of shared responsibility help satisfy the human longing to feel connected and remind participants that they are part of something greater than themselves. Ultimately, such initiatives serve as a reminder of the privilege of being alive and the importance of preserving the natural sanctuary of the coast
