More Staff for Portimão’s Schools

Portimão Boosts School Support Teams with Over 50 New Staff Members

Portimão City Council is currently finalising a major recruitment drive that will bring over 50 new operational assistants into the municipality’s schools. This significant reinforcement aims to enhance the support teams dedicated to the local educational community.

More than 40 of these new roles are focused on educational support. The new staff will be placed in schools progressively over the coming months, with the integration process expected to be completed by June. This structural boost is designed to address the needs of local school clusters, directly replacing staff members who have retired or left their positions, while also accommodating an increasing number of students enrolled in the area.

By securing these new hires, the Portimão council is taking a decisive step towards reducing its reliance on temporary staffing solutions. This shift will ensure greater stability, continuity, and overall quality in the day-to-day functioning of local school services.

Alongside the educational support roles, an additional recruitment process is currently underway to hire more than ten operational assistants for school kitchens. The next phase of selection for the kitchen staff, a psychometric evaluation, is scheduled for the 5th of May.

Altogether, these combined efforts will see school teams bolstered by more than 50 new professionals. The municipality has stated that this initiative reaffirms its ongoing commitment to the educational community. It highlights the essential role that operational assistants play in keeping schools running smoothly and ensuring a safe, suitable environment for students, teachers, and other staff.
