Swimming Costume Competition

Festa do Banho 29
Summer has just begun, but in Lagos, preparations are already underway for Festa do Banho 29. This year, the event will have a double format, with festivities planned for Cais da Solaria and Jardim da Constituição in the historic city centre, as well as for Vila da Luz on Av. dos Pescadores, where three stages will be set up, accompanied by food and drinks, thanks to the partnership with Clube Recreativo, Cultural e Desportivo Luzense.

Staying true to tradition, Festa do Banho 29 in Lagos once again includes a swimsuit contest, evoking the community’s customs and past beach activities. This historical aspect is complemented by a more innovative component that aims to encourage fashion designers to create original and innovative swimsuits inspired by the past.

To make participation more attractive, the City Council has set prizes ranging from 500 to 1500 euros for the top three works in the “Fashion and Innovation” category, and from 150 to 250 euros for the winners in the “Tradition and Community” category, with the support of the Lagos delegation of ACRAL – Association of Trade and Services of the Algarve Region, which co-produces the event.

If you are interested in old customs and want to dress up in traditional attire, or if creativity and originality are more your style, don’t hesitate to participate in this initiative.

Registrations for the “Fashion and Innovation” works will be open until July 31st. To register, fill out the registration form available on the online platform below.
