Lota Cool Market brings vibrant and sustainable energy to the riverside area of Portimão

The Lota Cool Market returns to the riverside area of Portimão from July 24 to 28 for a very special edition, celebrating the centenary of Portimão being granted city status while offering afternoons and evenings filled with entertainment, gastronomy, and culture.

For five days, this riverside ‘pop-up’ market opens its doors from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM and promises to be a meeting point for families, children, and young people, with musical entertainment and an inclusive atmosphere, where local producers and Portuguese brands are valued, gaining greater visibility and business opportunities in an increasingly competitive environment.

Unique gastronomic experiences will also be provided to visitors, who can explore various ‘food trucks’ with international dishes and Portuguese snacks through an innovative format that is gaining popularity.

For all this and much more, in 2024 the stars have aligned, and the 9th edition of the Lota Cool Market is an essential component of the city’s dynamic summer program, coinciding with Noitada – Festival of Light, Art, and Culture, and the World Press Photo exhibition, among many other attractions that guarantee Portimão a vibrant energy at this time of year.

Focus on Sustainability

Considered by the Teia d’Impulsos association as “the coolest event in the Algarve,” it will be aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 12, prioritizing the fight against food waste and promoting recycling among all participants.

One of the new features will be a fully accessible structure for serving drinks, ensuring comfort for people with different types of mobility, while visitors are invited to bring their cups from previous editions, contributing to the event’s sustainability. Additionally, recycling workshops will be held for the little ones, allowing them to give new life to objects brought from home, learning and socializing with other children in a safe and fun environment.

Music for All Tastes

The musical program will once again be one of the highlights, with a diverse selection of local and regional talents set to enliven the Choque Frontal ao Vivo stage, organized by the popular radio program from Alvor FM, with the following concert schedule:

  • July 24: Luís Capitão with Leonardo Pisco (10:00 PM to 12:00 AM); DJ Simon (12:00 AM to 2:00 AM)
