ALGARVE 2030 is running 12 projects to support Inclusion through culture.
The ALGARVE 2030 programme includes a series of initiatives to support the promotion of social inclusion through culture. Support for these cultural investments is intended to encourage projects aimed at the social and economic integration of more vulnerable groups. In this way, culture is intended to be a factor of cohesion and the promotion of diversity. This regional programme is in line with the European Pillar of Social Rights and the National Strategy to Combat Poverty, as well as the National Plan to Combat Racism and Discrimination 2021-2025.
‘Inclusion through Culture’ aims to promote the social inclusion of particularly vulnerable groups through initiatives and activities of artistic and cultural expression by and for disadvantaged groups. Following the analysis of the applications submitted, 12 projects supported by the ALGARVE 2030 Programme are underway, working in different areas and with different audiences and covering different territories. These include prisoners, migrants, the elderly, people with disabilities, NEETs and people with mental health problems.
The projects supported aim to develop concrete opportunities for participation through various forms of artistic and cultural expression: dance classes, sharing memories and testimonies; workshops, artist residencies, shows and exhibitions; valorisation of the territory’s cultural heritage and focus on proximity interventions; social intervention using artistic practices; social transformation through artistic and cultural activities, fostering critical thinking, empowerment and civic participation of participants; promotion of interculturality and non-discrimination in a school context, using participatory art; cultural and social training of individuals; empowerment and promotion of inclusion in the community, at all levels.
The approved ESF+ support of more than 800,000 euros under the ALGARVE 2030 Programme will make it possible, in the coming years, to showcase culture and art as valuable tools for social inclusion, contributing to cohesion and promoting diversity.
