“Lagos + Sustainable” Workshop

Lagos Hosts “Lagos + Sustainable” Workshop as Part of Green Destinations Certification

The municipality of Lagos held a preparatory session on 26 November focused on the renewal process for the international Green Destinations certification, reinforcing its commitment to promoting more sustainable tourism aligned with global best practices.

The initiative was supported by an external consultancy, which is working alongside the local authority on the new certification process. This effort relies heavily on the collaboration of various local partners, particularly those involved in the Lagos Nautical Station, whose adoption of sustainable practices is expected to continue contributing to the municipality’s overall rating as a sustainable tourism destination.

As part of this work, the municipality organised the workshop “Lagos + Sustainable – Green Destinations Certification”, held in the Town Hall Auditorium. The session addressed topics including the evolution of the certification process in Lagos, the principles of sustainable tourism, the responsibilities of local entities, and the different stages involved in the certification programme.

With this initiative, the municipality aims to strengthen the engagement of local stakeholders and consolidate Lagos as a destination committed to sustainability, prepared to meet current and future environmental and tourism challenges.
