Portimão Prepares for New Mandate

Official Installation Ceremony Announced

Portimão is set for a significant public ceremony as the new administrative cycle begins. The installation ceremony for the Autarchical Bodies of the Municipality of Portimão for the term 2025–2029 is scheduled for next week.

This public ceremony will take place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, starting at 4 pm. Community members wishing to attend should head to the Auditorium Júlio Bernardo, located at the Museum of Portimão.

Isabel Guerreiro, the President of the outgoing Municipal Assembly, will oversee the formal proceedings. She will officially ‘give office’ to the newly elected members of both the Municipal Assembly of Portimão and the Municipality of Portimão for their upcoming term.

Recalling the Election Results

This ceremony follows the recent municipal elections, which established the new political configuration for the next four years.

In the contest for the Municipality of Portimão, the Socialist Party (PS) emerged as the most voted list. Álvaro Bila, who headed the PS list, successfully won the municipal elections.

The distribution of councillors for the Municipality also reflected the following outcomes:

  • CHEGA was the second most voted for party, securing three councillors.
  • The PSD/CDS-PP/IL coalition (known locally as Portimão 2025) came in third, electing two councillors.

The composition of the Municipal Assembly of Portimão also saw strong representation across several lists:

  • The Socialist Party (PS) was the most voted list for the Assembly, electing eleven municipal deputies.
  • CHEGA was confirmed as the second force in the Assembly, successfully electing eight municipal deputies.
  • The PSD / CDS / IL coalition secured seven elected municipal deputies.
  • The Coalition United Portimão-BE, Livre and Independents also won representation, electing one deputy.

This ceremony officially marks the beginning of the new leadership and mandate for Portimão.
