Vila do Bispo Council Pledges Comprehensive Support for 2026 Local Youth Summer Camps
Great news for families across the western Algarve! As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local youth, the Vila do Bispo Municipal Council has announced it will continue to provide financial, logistical, and human support for the 2026 summer holiday camps in the region. These initiatives offer young people a healthy and engaging way to spend their free time during the summer break.
On July 23, Mayor Paula Freitas formalised this commitment by signing cooperation agreements with the local organisations responsible for running the camps. The agreements were signed alongside Ana Custódio, Chair of the Budens Parish Council, and Sérgio Agostinho, Chair of the Clube Recreativo Infante de Sagres (CRIS).
Funding and Logistical Backing
To reinforce its dedication to high-quality children’s programming, the municipality is allocating €7,500 in financial support to each of these partner organisations.
However, the Council’s support goes far beyond funding. To ensure the camps are accessible and run smoothly, the municipality is also providing:
- Nutritious meals for participants, maintained through a co-payment system structured around relevant income brackets.
- Necessary transport to help children participate in the activities.
- Access to municipal facilities to host various camp programs.
- Dedicated municipal staff on hand to support the delivery of the daily activities.
A Collaborative Effort Across the Parishes
These summer camps are a collaborative community effort. The Budens Parish camp is being operated in partnership with the Barão de São Miguel Parish Council. Additionally, to ensure a comprehensive program is available to everyone, the Municipal Council has stepped up to directly organise the summer holiday camps for the parishes of Vila do Bispo and Raposeira.
