The players who entered the Padel Mashup held on Sunday, June 30th, at Luz Ocean Padel Club played their socks off once again in support of Madrugada.
Madrugada provides free palliative/end-of-life care and is currently supporting 16 patients and their families in and around Lagos and Luz. The competition raised 725 euros, which will help to fund adaptive equipment, nursing, healthcare, etc. This is a fantastic achievement.
The day was made possible by the continued support of Ocean Padel Club, with special thanks to Padel pro, Dan. Also, a special shout out to Izakaya Luz and John, who provided a delicious BBQ to the hungry players and supporters. Some also stayed on to watch another nail-biting sports spectacle—the England vs. Slovakia game, which also had everyone on the edge of their seats.
This year, the competition was sponsored by Sadlers Property, which, along with Sunrays Kitchen, provided the fantastic raffle prizes, thanks to Sophie, Nick, and Rachel.
Events like this are made possible by the behind-the-scenes helpers; special mention to Kerry for managing the list, Suzana for the comms, Rebecca for the raffle and Jayne, Emily and Nikki for the registrations, and the amazing organisational skills of Gilly. Nice one, girls.
Last but not least, the players. Many congratulations to Hayley and Nic, the finalists, and Rachel and Fabio, the winners. The final was exciting and a joy to watch. The trophy will be updated and back on display at the club by the end of the week.
