Today, let’s talk about the markets, these recurring events that happen —some monthly, others weekly— in various locations and parishes across the municipality of Lagos.
Monthly Market
The Monthly Market is characterized by the participation of local vendors as well as others from different parts of Portugal, and even some from abroad. At this market, you can find almost anything: clothing, footwear, lingerie, jewellery and accessories, bags, bed linens, bath and kitchen towels, crafts and ceramics, plants and gardening supplies, as well as fruits, vegetables, and even food and drink stalls.
These Monthly Markets are held throughout the year, in Lagos on the first Saturday of each month at the grounds adjacent to the Municipal Stadium. Additionally, in Odiáxere, the market takes place on the fourth Monday of each month at Largo da Alegria (next to the Windmill).

Viv’o Mercado
And finally, in an innovative initiative, there is the Viv’o Mercado, created by the Lagos Social Network (CM Lagos, NECI, CASLAS, Projeto Novas Descobertas, Associação Infância Viva, and certified organic producers and others). This market takes place every Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the winter, and from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the summer.
This market complements the existing ones and aims to increase organic production and promote employment in this area. The “Viv’o Mercado” seeks to energize a new market day for selling local, organic products, crafts, and food stalls. In addition to focusing on promoting organic farming, it also stands out for its social area with entertainment, a children’s area, and a range of food stalls, under the motto “from the stall to the plate.”
