Clothes for Lagos´Homeless

Lagos is promoting a solidarity campaign to collect summer clothes and warm clothing for homeless people.

Throughout 2025, the Lagos Homeless Planning and Intervention Centre (NPISA) is organising two solidarity campaigns to collect clothes and warm clothes to support people experiencing homelessness (PSSA), the first in March and the second in September. The initiative aims to guarantee minimum comfort for those who need it most, with the involvement of the local community.

The March campaign, which runs from 3 to 28 March 2025, aims to collect summer clothes and other warm clothing since, despite the more favourable weather conditions in spring and summer, it is essential to provide protection from the sun during the day and ensure comfort during the nights, which can be cold for those living on the streets.

This initiative is of great importance since, by December 2024, the municipality of Lagos had 116 homeless people, 106 of whom were homeless (living in public spaces, emergency shelters, or precarious accommodation) and 10 of whom were homeless (in temporary accommodation). Faced with this reality, the campaign reinforces the need to support this vulnerable population and raise awareness in the community of the problem of social exclusion.

The community is invited to contribute by donating clothes and/or other essential items, such as summer clothes: T-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, trousers, tracksuits; underwear: socks, pants, bras; bath towels; and warm clothes: blankets, sleeping bags, coats, scarves, and hats.

Donations can be delivered to the Lagos Solidarity Resource Bank, located at Rua José Afonso, Lote 23, Cave B – Lagos (formerly Loja da Água), at the following times: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 15:00 and 17:00 and Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:00 and 12:00.

The campaign collaborates with the Lagos Solidarity Resource Bank, which receives the donations, and the organisations MAPS—Movimento de Apoio à Problemática da SIDA and Instituto Fonte Vida (IFV), which distribute the goods to homeless people.

Solidarity among everyone is fundamental to improving conditions for those who need it most. Get involved and contribute to this cause!
