Lagos Opens New Coworking Space in Barão de São João
The municipality of Lagos has reinforced its commitment to entrepreneurship and rural development with the opening of a new coworking hub, CoLagos, in Barão de São João.
In a significant step toward fostering innovation and rural development, the Municipality of Lagos officially inaugurated a new CoLagos coworking space on June 20. The ceremony took place at the União de Freguesias de Bensafrim e Barão de São João, located at Rua 25 de Abril, No. 14 (1st floor), marking the latest addition to the expanding municipal coworking network.
This new hub responds directly to the increasing demand for remote and collaborative work environments in Lagos. Notably, it extends the award-winning CoLagos brand — recipient of the “Cinco Estrelas Regiões” prize for the third consecutive year — into the municipality’s inland areas. By doing so, the initiative seeks to unlock the region’s underexplored potential and forge stronger connections between local communities and entrepreneurs.
The facility offers ten modern workstations, a fully equipped meeting room, a kitchenette, and a shared lounge. Users benefit from a variety of flexible access plans, including monthly and biweekly subscriptions, daily passes, and a 12-day bundle. Additional services such as virtual office options and printing access further enhance the user experience.
Set against the backdrop of Barão de São João’s vibrant cultural scene, natural beauty, and high quality of life, the new coworking space is poised to become a hub for creative, community-rooted work. Its launch reinforces the municipality’s ongoing strategy to attract talent, support the local economy, and promote territorial cohesion.
The inauguration gathered key local stakeholders, including Lagos Mayor Hugo Pereira; entrepreneurship councillor Sandra Oliveira; Fábio Gonçalves of the União de Freguesias; and representatives from the youth association (A)GARRA, led by its president, Diogo Rodrigues.
To celebrate the opening, attendees were treated to a guided tour of the facility, live music performances, and informal networking moments — creating a welcoming atmosphere that reflected the space’s collaborative spirit.
