SeaWatch Project

Terras do Infante Renews Support for SeaWatch Project

Reaffirming its commitment to beach surveillance and safety, the Terras do Infante Association of Municipalities has decided to support the “SeaWatch” project, run by the Portuguese Maritime Rescue Institute (ISN), for the second consecutive year in the jurisdiction of the Lagos Maritime Authority.

The primary goal of the “SeaWatch” initiative is to strengthen safety measures on unsupervised beaches, particularly those without lifeguards. This effort is especially significant in the three municipalities that make up Terras do Infante – Aljezur, Lagos, and Vila do Bispo.

As part of this renewed partnership, the association is covering accommodation for the operational teams assigned to the project throughout the bathing season.

Consequently, the Vicentine Coast once again benefits from reinforced surveillance. A dedicated team of trained military personnel, already deployed on-site, operates two all-terrain vehicles equipped with lifesaving equipment. This enhanced monitoring will continue until the end of the current beach season.
