Faro Municipality Launches Works to Rehabilitate Sidewalks and Pavements in Faro and Montenegro, Wide-Ranging Set of Interventions Aims to Improve Pedestrian Mobility and Safety in the Municipality

In recent days, the Municipality of Faro has awarded a number of contracts for the rehabilitation and maintenance of sidewalks and pavements across the municipality, particularly in the urban center of Faro and the parish of Montenegro.

To that end, the Municipality has already awarded rehabilitation and maintenance contracts for sidewalks in the areas of Bom João and Santo António do Alto (worth €58,100 plus VAT); in the area of Cidade Velha and Largo do Carmo (€69,620 plus VAT); and in the São Luís area (€72,053.80 plus VAT) — see the attached map for detailed boundaries of these areas.

Also already awarded is a contract for the rehabilitation of pavements in the suburban area of Faro, valued at €97,150 plus VAT. This work will focus particularly on the entire parish of Montenegro, as well as other areas in the municipality. All contracts have a duration of 180 days.

The tenders for the rehabilitation and maintenance of sidewalks in the areas of Alto Rodes, Penha, and Lejana are also nearly ready to be launched and are expected to move forward very soon.

With this wide-ranging set of interventions, the Municipality of Faro aims to improve pedestrian mobility and safety across the municipality, especially in areas of high foot traffic and wear.
