Major changes to the 2025 programme presented in Portimão

On 19 March, TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão hosted a press conference to unveil the new features of the 2025 edition of Portugal a Dançar, an event that has established itself as a benchmark on the national cultural and artistic scene.

Bruno Mourato, director of Portugal a Dançar, presented the main innovations for next year, reinforcing the event’s commitment to the development and professionalisation of dance in Portugal. The deputy mayor of Portimão, Teresa Mendes, emphasised the importance of this event for the city’s cultural dynamism, highlighting the growing prominence that Portimão has gained as a privileged stage for high-impact events.

Among the main new features announced is the introduction of a mentoring programme during the qualifying rounds, which will provide participants with specialised support to boost their performance. In addition, the 2025 edition will feature trade fairs in various locations, creating new networking and visibility opportunities for artists and participants.

One of the most eagerly awaited moments will be the debut of the 1st Portugal a Dançar Awards Gala, which will honour the talent, excellence and professionalism of choreographers, dancers and other dance personalities, both nationally and internationally, and will take place in Portimão.

The presentation also featured special performances, including the presence of singer Débora Valente and a dance moment starring the finalists of ‘Portugal a Dançar 2024’, the DancExpression company.

The occasion was attended by municipal representatives and dance professionals, who expressed great enthusiasm for the new features unveiled, reinforcing the importance and growing impact of Portugal a Dançar on the Portuguese cultural scene.


With a renewed programme and innovative initiatives, Portugal a Dançar 2025 promises to raise the quality level of the event even further, consolidating Portimão as the epicentre of dance and culture in Portugal.

Portugal a Dançar will begin on 2, 3, and 4 May in Oeiras and will take place in Portimão from 24 to 26 October.
