The Paderne Medieval Festival Returns to Kick Off 2026
The Paderne Medieval event is set to return, once again bringing history to life at the start of 2026. Taking place from January 1 to 4, 2026, in the village of Paderne, Albufeira, the festival will recreate a medieval settlement filled with knights, markets, banquets and pageantry. Moreover, the event is part of the Algarve’s wider New Year celebrations, blending historical reenactment with festive spirit.

Throughout the four days, visitors can explore a medieval market featuring traditional crafts, food and drink stalls. In addition, the programme includes knightly jousts, minstrel music, traditional dances and theatrical performances. One of the highlights, however, is the reenactment of the granting of the charter, symbolising the donation of the Castle of Paderne by King Dinis.

Organisation:
The event is promoted by the Albufeira Municipal Council, with the support of the Paderne Parish Council and the Casa do Povo de Paderne.
