Look, It’s Me and My Mother

A major exhibition by acclaimed contemporary artist Alice Geirinhas is set to open on 5 September, showcasing an extensive collection of illustrations, collages, and prints. The exhibition offers a powerful visual journey that challenges viewers to question social preconceptions around gender while critically reconstructing personal and collective memories.

For several decades, Geirinhas has been a leading figure in Portuguese contemporary art, using diverse mediums—including drawing, illustration, performance, video, and installation—to explore themes of identity, sexuality, and power. Active in the art world since the 1980s, her work is featured in prestigious public and private collections, notably those of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC).
