“Healthy Eating” wokshops
Series of Workshops Invites the Community to Discover the Benefits of Healthy Eating
Between September and December, the Municipality of Portimão will promote a series of workshops as part of the “Healthy Eating” project, integrated into the Health Literacy Program. The initiative aims to place food at the center of community life, raising awareness and empowering the general population as well as specific priority groups to adopt more balanced, sustainable, and mindful lifestyles.
Developed in partnership with the ADRA Association, this initiative reinforces the municipality’s commitment to promoting health and well-being, while also drawing attention to the importance of reducing food waste and the environmental impact of our daily choices at the table.
Healthy eating contributes significantly to both physical and mental well-being, helping to prevent chronic diseases, boost energy levels, and improve mood.
The free workshops will be led by Lyudmyla Mischuk, known as mila_vegana, a blogger focused on healthy eating.
The first workshop will take place on September 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, under the theme “The Importance of Colors in Our Diet”, and no prior registration is required.
In celebration of World Food Day and World Bread Day, the next session will be held on October 16 at the Portimão School of Hospitality and Tourism, titled “Combating Food Waste – Creativity with Leftovers and Useful Tips for Reusing Food”, and will be specially directed at the students of that institution.
On October 23, the session “How Our Food Choices Influence Our Mood” will take place at Quinta Pedagógica de Portimão, aimed at members of ASMAL – Algarve Mental Health Association.
On November 13, also at Quinta Pedagógica, the workshop “Healthy Cooking – A Look at Vegetarian Food, Myths and Realities” will be held for participants from senior and community centers across the municipality.
Finally, on December 4, the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library will host the last session of the series, themed “Sugar-Free Christmas Sweets”, once again aimed at families and children.
With this diverse program, the Municipality of Portimão seeks to engage the community in a practical and accessible reflection on the benefits of a balanced diet, demonstrating how it is possible to eat healthily, economically, and deliciously.
