Portimão 2024-25 Youth Participatory Budget Invites Community to Join “Families in Motion” Project
The 2024-25 Portimão Youth Participatory Budget (OPJ) continues to progress steadily, keeping to its schedule with another project being implemented according to the criteria set by the young proposers.
This time, the initiative “Families in Motion” comes to life in November and December.
Presented by Pedro Bica and Inês Bica, the project—ranked third in votes in the OPJ Portimão 2024-25—focuses on organizing an event where families are invited to participate in accessible and fun sporting activities. Tasks are adapted to suit different physical abilities, promoting inclusion.
The proposal emphasizes sport, social interaction, leisure, and playful physical activity, featuring obstacle courses, team games, and recreational exercises.
Originally planned to take place twice a month, the young organizers—now entering higher education—decided to hold the three sessions currently scheduled for 23 and 30 November, and 21 December, with one session in each parish.
“Kick-Off” to Take Place in Mexilhoeira Grande
The first session is scheduled for November 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Sports Complex and Children’s Park in Mexilhoeira Grande. Registration is open until November 21 and can be completed by filling out the form available at the following link
Portimão Pools Host Second Session
On the following Sunday, November 30, the project will take place at Portimão Municipal Pool, featuring activities tailored for the aquatic environment. The program will run across three sessions, each lasting approximately one hour, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Registrations for this session are open until November 27 and can be completed online.
Alvor Session Combines Outdoor and Pool Activities
The parish of Alvor has been selected to host the “Families in Motion” project on December 21, marking the final session of the program. The registration deadline is December 14, and the form can be accessed at the following address
