Former Portimão Fish Market Hosts Exhibition “From Vineyard to Tavern – The History of Wine and Social Life in Portimão” and the Music Cycle “Fado at the Market”

From August 31, the former Portimão Fish Market will showcase the exhibition “From Vineyard to Tavern – The History of Wine and Social Life in Portimão”. The display highlights the region’s rich winemaking heritage, from traditional cooperative wineries to the pivotal role of taverns as places of gathering, sharing, and community identity.
Opening at 7:00 p.m., the exhibition invites visitors on a sensory and historical journey, revealing how wine has long been more than just a product – it has been culture, economy, and a symbol of conviviality.
“Fado at the Market” Returns in 2025
At 9:30 p.m., the cultural evening continues with the first concert of the 2025 “Fado at the Market” cycle. Every Sunday through October 10, the soul of Portuguese song will echo along the banks of the Arade River.
The opening night features João Leote, accompanied by Vítor do Carmo (Portuguese guitar), António Correia and José Santana (fado guitar). The program then continues with:
