The 52nd Volta ao Algarve cycling race will take place from February 18 to 22, spanning five stages and covering a total of 697.41 timed kilometres. This year’s route introduces several sporting innovations, promising a more dynamic, competitive, and unpredictable race from day one. Around 168 riders are expected to participate.

Lagos once again joins the celebration of cycling and the Algarve region. On Saturday, February 21, the 4th stage will run from Albufeira to Lagos, featuring a 32-kilometre final circuit after an initial pass through the finish line. This offers another opportunity for sprinters, while strategic points along the route could create tension and splits in the peloton.

A new feature this year is that riders will pass the finish area on Avenida dos Descobrimentos twice: first around 2:38 PM, then returning around 3:25 PM for the final sprint to the line.
