I’m originally from Birmingham, England, emigrating here three years ago, mainly so we could enjoy the sun, live debt free, and as we’ve subsequently discovered, eat plenty of sumptuous Portuguese food!It was a big decision, leaving a senior role in the police to arrive here without any regular income. To help the transition, my wife retrained as a dog groomer and now has her own business in our home town of Tavira.

Living here has allowed me to enjoy my favourite pastimes of photography, padel and writing. It has also given me more time with my very best friend, a 7-year-old naughty cocker spaniel named Stanley.

I’ve written for newspapers and magazines in Portugal and the UK. I really enjoy writing for Tomorrow Magazine and love its vibrancy and healthy mix of features with a lighter tone and others with real gravitas. I enjoy learning about how things work here (hence my features on the GNR and PSP) and supporting local businesses.

It was suggested we include a ‘claim to fame’. Mine is that in 1974 (when I was 7 years old) my babysitter was the biggest pop star of the day. The clues being the year and my place of birth….

Melhores cumprimentos,
