Orange Week Returns to Portimão Municipal Market

Portimão Municipal Market is set to celebrate the Algarve’s famous oranges once again, dedicating a full week—from February 10 to 14—to this vibrant and nutritious citrus fruit, offering it at special prices for visitors.

Organized jointly by the Market’s Horticultural Sector and the Municipality of Portimão, the event takes place under the motto: “Algarve Orange – the Healthiest Fruit.” Throughout the week, the market will host a series of morning showcookings, running from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., featuring menus inspired by the juicy orange, highlighting its versatility and health benefits.

The showcookings are led by the renowned Portimão School of Hospitality and Tourism, offering participants a chance to learn creative ways to incorporate oranges into a variety of dishes. On February 14, coinciding with Valentine’s Day, Chef Nuno Martins from the restaurant NUMA will join the event to present a special themed demonstration, adding a romantic twist to the week’s culinary celebrations.

Visitors can expect a lively atmosphere, with opportunities to taste and purchase fresh oranges and orange-based products, discover new recipes, and learn about the nutritional value of this iconic Algarve fruit. The event aims to promote local produce while celebrating the region’s rich gastronomic traditions.
