Athletics Circuit “City of Lagos”
24th Municipal Athletics Circuit “City of Lagos” | 2025/2026 Season
The Municipality of Lagos is promoting the 24th edition of the Municipal Athletics Circuit “City of Lagos” for the 2025/2026 sporting season. Now well established and unique in southern Portugal, the circuit is a benchmark event for athletics enthusiasts and competitors.
The season will kick off on January 25, 2026, with the 10th Cross-Country Grand Prix of the São Gonçalo de Lagos Parish Council, the first official race of the circuit. The event is jointly organised by the São Gonçalo de Lagos Parish Council and the Lagos City Council, with technical support from the Algarve Athletics Association.
The race will take place on the grounds adjacent to the Lagos Municipal Stadium, starting at 10:00 a.m., and is open to all age categories, female and male, from under-10s to veterans.
Programme
- 10:00 a.m. – Under-10 (Benjamins A): 400 m
- 10:10 a.m. – Under-12 (Benjamins B): 800 m
- 10:20 a.m. – Under-14 (Infantis): 1,200 m
- 10:30 a.m. – Under-16 (Iniciados): 2,000 m
- 10:40 a.m. – Female Under-18 to Veterans: 2,400 m
- 11:00 a.m. – Male Under-18 to Veterans: 3,200 m
Registration is free of charge and must be completed by January 21, 2026, via the CRONO platform of the Algarve Athletics Association. Both affiliated and non-affiliated athletes may register. Circuit registration is required only once, with athletes automatically entered in the remaining events of the season.
The 24th Municipal Athletics Circuit “City of Lagos” comprises six races, including cross-country, road and track events, held throughout the season in various parishes of the municipality.
The Municipality of Lagos is responsible for the overall organisation of the circuit, providing logistical, technical and safety support, as well as awarding prize money to the top five teams in the final team standings and to the winners of the individual overall classifications.
The circuit strengthens the municipality’s commitment to promoting athletics, decentralising sports practice and encouraging participation by athletes and clubs, reaffirming Lagos as a prime venue for competition and sporting fellowship.
