“Heart in Good Hands” Initiative Promotes Cardiac Health
Local Authority Leads Awareness Campaign in Partnership with Health in Dialogue Platform
A health literacy session titled “Heart in Good Hands” took place on May 28 in the Main Hall of Faro City Hall.
The event was organized by the Division of Social Intervention and Participatory Policies of the Municipality of Faro, in collaboration with the Health in Dialogue Platform. It forms part of a broader series of initiatives aimed at promoting health literacy and disease prevention, spearheaded by the municipality.
Under the theme “Heart in Good Hands”, the session featured Dr. Carlos Filipe, a specialist in General and Family Medicine, who provided practical guidance and shared valuable insights on cardiovascular health care.
Attendees also benefited from free cardiovascular screenings, offered by the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC).
This initiative was part of the “May – Heart Month” commemorations and aimed primarily at raising community awareness about the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. It encouraged the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits—continuing the municipality’s ongoing efforts to create inclusive, approachable, and supportive health promotion moments, facilitated by healthcare professionals and patient associations.
With this action, the Municipality of Faro once again reaffirms its commitment to promoting the health and well-being of its residents.
