Vila do Bispo Municipality Honors Students with Academic Merit Awards
Last Saturday, January 24, the ceremony for the Academic Merit Awards took place, recognizing students from the 6th and 9th grades of São Vicente Basic School for their outstanding performance during the 2024/2025 school year. The event was held in the main hall of the Town Hall and formed part of the celebrations for both Municipal Day and Saint Vincent’s Day.
The ceremony was attended by the Mayor, Paula Freitas, the President of the Municipal Assembly, José Marques, councilors Luis Paixão, Rute Silva, and Dora Guerreiro, as well as Carla Cunha, Director of the local School Grouping, who presented the awards.
Among the 6th-grade students, the awardees were Catarina Esperança José Duarte, Lucas Miguel Duarte Martins, Ronaldo da Veiga Fernandes, and Carlota Maria Rosado. The 9th-grade students recognized were Alexandre Shevchenko and Mafalda Furtado Baptista.
Each student received a €250 FNAC gift card, along with a trophy and a certificate of academic merit. Additionally, each awardee was given a complimentary admission to Zoomarine, courtesy of the theme park.
The ceremony also included a tribute performed by two students from São Vicente Basic School in honor of the award recipients.
Through this initiative, the municipality reinforces its commitment to promoting educational success and recognizing the merit, effort, and academic achievements of local students.
