Digital Urban Planning in Faro: New Rules Take Effect on July 14
Faro Municipality introduces updated online procedures for urban planning submissions and organizes a public information session for professionals on July 7.
In a move towards modernizing its interaction with citizens and businesses, the Municipality of Faro is set to implement new digital procedures in urban planning, reinforcing its commitment to effective digital citizenship.
New regulations
Starting July 14, 2025, new regulations for the online submission of urban planning requests will officially come into effect, as previously announced in Public Notice No. 216/2025. These measures are part of a broader effort to digitize administrative processes, with an emphasis on reducing paperwork and streamlining services.
From this date forward, applications should preferably be submitted through Faro’s Online Services portal, specifically under the Urban Planning section. However, assisted in-person support will still be available at the Department of Infrastructure and Urbanism’s service desk for those who need it.
Public information session
To facilitate the transition, the municipality will host a public information session on July 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. This session, aimed at professionals in the field of urbanism, will be held in the Main Hall of Faro’s City Hall building. Attendance is limited to 90 participants and requires prior registration via the following form. Participation is free of charge.
Department of Infrastructure and Urbanism relocation
In addition, the Municipality has announced that on June 30 and July 1, 2025, the service counters of the Department of Infrastructure and Urbanism will be closed due to relocation. Starting July 2, the department will operate from its new address:
Rua Monsenhor Henrique Ferreira da Silva, No. 9, 8005-137 Faro (former premises of ANJE).
This relocation is expected to significantly improve service conditions for the public. The Municipality expresses its gratitude for the community’s understanding during this transition.
