The Lagos City Council has paid tribute to several associations and clubs in the municipality, recognizing their achievements with official commendations approved during yesterday’s executive meeting.
The Associação de Ballet Dança & Arte SR and its affiliated Academia de Ballet Dança & Arte Sofia Rodrigues earned particular distinction thanks to the remarkable accomplishments of their students during the 2024/2025 academic year. From outstanding results in both national and international competitions to stellar performances in the official Royal Academy of Dance examinations, the academy presented 72 students and collected an impressive tally: 20 presentation awards, 32 silver medals, 12 gold medals, and one high distinction.
In recognition, the City Council approved a formal vote of praise, dedicated not only to the association and academy but also individually to each student. Under the direction of Sofia Rodrigues, the institution has become a beacon of artistic excellence, elevating local training standards and projecting Lagos onto the national and international stage of dance and culture.
On the sporting front, the achievements of the Clube de Ténis e Padel de Lagos, the Andebol Clube Costa Doiro, and the Roller Lagos Clube de Patinagem also stood out. Their performances across tennis, padel, handball, and speed skating during the 2024/2025 season—both regionally and nationally—were equally deserving of recognition.
The City Council highlighted these collective and individual triumphs, applauding the talent, effort, and dedication of everyone involved: athletes, coaches, management teams, sponsors, and the families who provide vital support in the face of competitive challenges.
