€9 Million in EU Funding

Vila do Bispo Secures Over €9 Million in EU Funding

The Vila do Bispo Municipal Council has secured €9,249,182 in European funding between December 2021 and today through applications submitted to the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), as well as the CRESC Algarve 2020 and Algarve 2030 programs.

Several projects funded by the PRR stand out. Among the most significant are: the creation of teams for the pilot project “Radar Social de Vila do Bispo”; improved accessibility at the Town Hall building; increased water efficiency in the municipal supply network; enhanced accessibility on the municipal website; the construction of 29 housing units in Senhora do Amparo, Vila do Bispo; the rehabilitation of an apartment on Rua Comandante Matoso; and the conservation and improvement of the Vila do Bispo Health Center.

Additionally, funding secured through the CRESC Algarve 2020 and Algarve 2030 programs has financed the rehabilitation of the former Vila do Bispo granaries – now the “Celeiro da História” (Barn of History) and home to the Vila do Bispo Museum – as well as the Ecovia and Southwest Coastal Bike Path.

Meanwhile, other applications remain under review, representing a potential investment of over €3 million. These projects include the purchase of firefighting vehicles for the Vila do Bispo Volunteer Fire Department, support for artisanal fishermen in Salema and Burgau, the renovation of Sagres Primary School EB1 No. 2, the digitalization of municipal services, and the implementation of a smart waste management system for the municipality, among others.

Ultimately, these results highlight the municipality’s strong ability to secure EU funding and seize development opportunities.
