Those living in the vicinity of Praia da Luz will have noticed that the long-awaited road improvement commenced this week.
The EM 537 (Quatro Estradas-Luz) municipal road rehabilitation project has entered the first phase between the Parque de Campismo Orbitur and the village of Luz. This work has resulted in this section of the road being closed and the suspension of some stops of the A ONDA transport service.
The total cost of the improvements is € 1,616,092.06 plus VAT, and are scheduled to take six months. The 2nd phase will be between the Quatro Estradas roundabout and the Orbitur Campsite. Throughout the work, traffic will be redirected with diversion signs and publicity in the municipality.
In the case of the transport network A ONDA, as of September 1, and for an indefinite period, the stops at Quinta da Luz, Valverde and Monte S. Pedro on line 4 Yellow will be eliminated, with circulation via EN125 (Espiche).
I am sure we will all agree that the temporary inconvenience will be worth it to improve this much-lamented stretch of road, filled with potholes and dangerous for pedestrians.
